Review:
The Beijing Memorandum by JB Morris is quite possibly one of the most unique thrillers I have read all year. A quick note: the story is dark and contains violence, rape, and language that may be triggering to some people. I tend to be able to read about these things without being too emotionally messed up, so it didn’t bother me as much, but there are dark parts.
The one part of this novel that maybe kept me from giving it a full five stars was the heavy politics. If politics aren’t your thing, this can get a little tedious to read through. However, the rest of the plot was fast-paced and flowed so well, I couldn’t put it down. It feels realistic, like this could really happen. I love when thrillers feel this way. It makes it easier to feel connected to the story when you get the sense of, “this could really happen.”
This is my first read by JB Morris, and I’m definitely going to read more by him,. I enjoyed The Beijing Memorandum and despite the dark themes, would recommend this to thriller fans. This is definitely worth the read.
