Hi everyone!
I’m excited to be reviewing the second and third book in Adria Carmichael Juche series; The Weeping Masses and The Storm of Storms. Check out my review for book one, The Demon of Yodok, here.

Areum’s hopes to be set free from the brutal political prison camp holding them is crushed, and the heinous assault on her sister plunges her into a state of shock and horror… and puts her on a collision course with her family. All hope seems to be lost. Just when she is about to give up, however, a disturbing revelation is made… and as the evil of the camp is given a face, Areum finds a new purpose to keep fighting.
Revenge!
But first they need to survive, and with the constantly harshening conditions and her family being targeted from all directions, daily life in Yodok turns into a never-ceasing fight to evade imminent doom.
On top of everything, an impossible tragedy strikes Choson, and the unquestionable truth Areum has built her life around is challenged to its very core.

Review:
Is it possible for the next book in the series to be better than the first, even though you gave the first a 5/5? Well, The Weeping Masses proves it’s possible!
The writing is flawless. It is almost poetic or lyrical, and it is so easy to get lost in. I felt as though I was living alongside the characters, and could see and feel all the things I was meant to see and feel. This is one of the authors that really makes me grateful I became a book blogger. I am lucky to have the opportunity to read such an incredible series.
The dystopian elements are bleak. These characters are in a horrible predicament. What I love is how incredible the character building is, here. The plotting of revenge, the family themes…honestly, I’m just impressed.
When I read a book this good, I feel like my reviews are not doing them justice. This is a series you do not want to miss. I am so excited that I didn’t have to wait too long for the third book. I highly recommend starting from book one and catching up!
Thank you to author Adria Carmichael for the review copy if this book. All opinions are my own and unbiased.

A highly addictive Young Adult Dystopian Survival Saga that will keep you glued to the pages.
Nari’s shocking revelation in the watermill changes everything in an instant, and Areum is once more faced with an impossible decision.
Will she betray her sister in order to save her life, or support her and let her die? In the midst of this struggle, the storm of the century hits the camp, and life goes from hard to impossible overnight. Areum slowly comes to realize there is only one way to ensure their survival.
To escape!
But how can they escape from an escape-proof prison camp? And even if they would get past the ferocious dog patrols, the machine gun-equipped guard towers and the electrified barbed wire fence… will she be willing to condemn everyone they’re leaving behind to an inescapable end through torture and death?

Review:
Adria Carmichael does it again. I don’t know how these books keep getting better, but they do. Just take my word for it, and start with book one.
Heartbreaking and compelling, The Storm of Storms is packed with action, suspense, and deception.
I love the sisters. They are well-developed. Areum is strong and passionate. Nari is smart and perceptive. The two of them make this series so good.
This series is so compelling, I want to go back and re-read all three books. I couldn’t put this down. Fair warning, picking up these books will cause lack of sleep and consume your thoughts.
Highly, highly recommended!!!

Adria Carmichael is a writer of Young Adult Dystopian fiction with a twist. When she is not devouring dystopian and post-apocalyptic content in any format – books, movies, TV-series and PlayStation games – she is crafting the epic and highly-addictive Juche saga, her 2020 debut novel series that takes place in the brutal, totalitarian nation of Choson. When the limit of doom and gloom is reached, a 10K run on a sunny day or binging a silly sitcom on a rainy day is her go-to way to unwind.
