Review
Nova’s Blade by Will Scifi had me hooked from the beginning. I did get too tired and fell asleep before I could finish, so I can’t say I read this in one sitting, but if it wasn’t for pesky sleep, I would have. The writing is easy to read while still giving us enough to captivate our imagination. I get Hunger Games and Squid Game vibes, while staying original and in its own lane.
Nova is a fantastic main character. She’s the most developed character in the book, for good reason considering she tells the story. I don’t always do well with first person, present tense, but Will Scifi wrote this in a way that it didn’t throw me off. It actually helped me feel like I was there in the story.
The action sequences are fabulous. Bloody, but realistic and easy to visualize. The fights were intense and certainly had me cheering for Nova while also being saddened by the circumstances. I loved the fact that this book took me on a journey of emotions.
I really enjoyed Nova’s Blade. I hope the next books gives us more character development on certain other characters I won’t name for fear of spoilers. I really can’t wait for the next book! I think this series is only going to get better from here and that’s exciting. I definitely recommend giving this a read!
