A story of the far-reaching effects of unrequited love and drug (ab)use, Underrated follows five lads who are just trying to make things better for themselves.
In Liverpool and on the south Devon coast, their lives entangle as they turn to cocaine.
While some people take drugs to escape their circumstances, others deal drugs to escape theirs. But is escape ever really an option?
Review
I’ve been looking forward to another book by Morwenna Blackwood since I read Glass House, so when the opportunity to read Underrated was presented to me, I was excited to hop on the blog tour.
This is quite the disturbing read. It deals with themes surrounding drugs, addiction, betrayal, and friendship. I enjoyed the writing. It was well paced and I was very interested in the journey.
I felt the characters in this were very compelling. The drug abuse and addiction is powerfully written, and quite difficult to read about. However, the story is worth it.
Overall, I would recommend giving Underrated a read. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
